I hope ‘Changing Menu’ will lead me down the path of learning more about food and how we can minimise it’s negative impact on the environment and well-being of people around the globe. I’m not looking to change or solve the world’s food and health crisis. However, if I was to expect any change at all, I must first start the change within myself. As Ghandi once said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world”.
Over the years, I’ve experimented and adapted classic recipes of both eastern and western cuisine into ‘CLEAN’ eating recipes; a term commonly known in the health food community. This means that I will ultimately share recipes that are a combination of Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Processed Sugar Free and/or Grain Free that I’ve either adapted from old favourites or discovered through other amazing bloggers.
I believe in the saying ‘You are what you eat’ hence by changing what you eat you will definitely change how you feel.
With this belief in mind, I am embarking on a journey to transition my family into eating more quality food rather than quantity, being more sustainable by growing our own food whenever possible and finally, adopting an active lifestyle through discovering endurance running as part of my day to day routine.

About Ivy Evenden
Ivy was born in Malaysia, raised in Canada and now living in Melbourne, Australia with her husband and 2 young daughters. Over the years, she’s been fortunate to experience many different cultural cuisines whilst living and travelling in different countries. Ivy does not define herself as a “chef” but she does spend a lot of her time in the kitchen experimenting with recipes and discovering ingredients.
Since childhood, Ivy has experienced various allergy-triggered illnesses such as Asthma, eczema, fatigue and severe spring/summer hay fever symptoms that would last the entire season. She was also diagnosed with Hypoactive Thyroid and Graves disease when she was 17 years old, which she is currently taking medication for. The challenges of these symptoms coupled with diminishing energy levels since becoming a mother, she decided to undergo a health overhaul when she discovered a Detox Program called the CLEAN program. This program has ultimately led her to live a healthier lifestyle with plenty of energy and minimal illnesses.
Besides being a full time mom, she’s also a part time Digital Marketing Specialist and a novice farmer growing small amount of local seasonal fruits and vegetables in her own backyard. With the increase in energy level, Ivy decided to start running 2 years ago which led her to completing 3 half marathons (21.1 kms) and several small trail races with the longest race being 17 kms. She is currently training for her first Marathon which will take her along 45kms of undulating terrain on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia.
